On multiple occasions, testers for BiT Evolution have asked us the same two questions. “What are these things that I’m collecting?” Well, glad that you asked. They’re pixels! “What is the purpose of the collecting them?” Well, we’ll tell ya! We felt that we should address this question today. We’ll review the progression of the pixel pickups.
Pixels for Progress
Pixels played a much more crucial role in progression in the first demo of the game. They were required in order to challenge the game’s first boss. Players were expected to collect a certain number of pixels from the previous stages. This gave a very definitive purpose to the pixels. However, players complained about being forced to go back and collect them. Player opinions are very important to us. We considered removing them outright. Eventually we came to the conclusion that we needed to have them in the game. We soon decided that we could instead use them as an optional objective for players.
To help create these objectives we created a menu for the players. The Gallery menu is currently still locked in the released title as for now. In this menu we have a number of unlockable modes, characters, artwork, and more. A certain amount of pixels will be required for access. As of now this feature is still being tested. The Gallery menu will not be available until the full release of the game. We will also be introducing achievements related to collecting pixels in an upcoming update!
